DESCRIPTION:Now more than ever\, startup enterprises tend to operate on an international scale. Given the importance of intellectual property (IP) for a startup company's funding rounds\, an international view of IP protection is a necessity. In this presentation\, Jeff Morton will cover: key patent and trademark markets to be aware of\; important differences in patentable subject matter and trademark use requirements in key international markets\; and best practices for developing a sound international IP portfolio.\n\nSpeaker Bio:\n\nJeffrey D. Morton\, Ph.D.\, is a founding partner of Snell & Wilmer's San Diego office\, and co-chairs the firm's Life Sciences and Medical Technology\, and Technology Industry Groups. He has over 15 years of experience representing both start-up and large enterprises for their intellectual property and commercial law needs. Jeff is retained on a regular basis to serve as external IP/technology counsel to companies around the world\, and also represents numerous leading international law firms to protect their clients' intellectual property rights in the United States.\n\nJeff has significant patent prosecution and strategic patent counseling experience in a wide range of technologies\, including genomics and immunology.
